Fürstensteig Trailhead

Highlight • Trail

Fürstensteig is one of the most famous hiking trails
The Fürstensteig is one of the most famous hiking trails in the Rätikon and is the high-altitude classic in Liechtenstein. A first-class circular hike full of contrasts and surprises awaits you.
The hike begins on the panoramic Alp Gaflei 1400 meters above sea level. In green alpine pastures and past Legföhren, the path with a unique view steadily increases in height. The Fürstensteig is a very special experience. Exposed passages are secured with wire ropes and railings. At the Gafleisattel we see the Three Sisters in the distance. But below the Alpspitz-Schrofen we go steeply up in a saddle below the Helwangspitz to the chimney, also signposted as «Chemi».
From the chimney the path leads past Legföhren then down to Bärgälla-Alp and Bärgälla-Sattel, where the view encompasses the entire Liechtenstein Alps with their valleys and peaks. Now it is only a short distance to the Gaflei starting point.

Kuhgrat Summit

Highlight • Summit

On the Kuhgrat you can enjoy a wonderful view, really very nice and recommendable! The Kuhgrat summit is part of various long-distance hiking trails (of varying difficulty) and therefore there are often a lot of people up there.

They are all mountain hiking trails that lead to the summit, so you should be sure-footed and have a head for heights.

Garsellikopf

Highlight • Summit

The Garsellikopf is the second summit of the Three Sisters Chain, marking the border between Liechtenstein and Austria. Up and down it goes over an alpine trail (difficulty T3 / white-red-white).

The trail leads directly through the rock hole. In the afternoon, the sun is directly behind the rock formation of the Three Sisters.

Three Sisters

Highlight • Summit

The named after a legend 3 sisters are 3 conspicuous, connected peaks in the Upper Rhine Valley, which are visible in good weather already from Lake Constance - 40 to 50 km as the crow flies and from the valley!

The whole mountain is made up of showy, rough and rugged rock that gives the mountain its distinctive appearance. Due to its exposed position in the valley, the summit - as mentioned - is already visible from afar and offers a wonderful panorama from Liechtenstein to Germany.

Attention: I have no idea why, but the main peak - the big sister - has no summit cross, but only a small landmark. (The summit is located exactly on the border between Liechtenstein and Austria)
So if you already go down to the summit crosses, missed the main summit and should turn around, because the middle and little sister can only be reached with free-climbing ;-)
