Coastal Path Along the Kiel Fjord

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

My favorite way to Schilksee: you have to pay attention to holes in the sandy path, but the view is terrific

Entrance to the Kiel Fjord

Highlight • Beach

The municipal port of Strande is the first marina on the west bank of the fjord when entering the Kiel Outer Fjord. The formerly old fishing port is now a popular sport boat harbor with seven jetties, 350 berths for sailing and motor boats with a water depth of 2.6 - 4.0 meters. The sheltered harbor offers a good infrastructure with two slipways, a ship and mast crane, a boat filling station and the shipyard of the Kiel Yacht Club.

At the end of the fjord you are in Kiel. The ships go to the city center.

Kiellinie Promenade

Highlight • Trail

Cycling is officially allowed here, but especially on sunny days and/or at weekends, the Kiellinie is heavily frequented by pedestrians and cyclists, so caution is advised.

The view of the Kiel Fjord and various gastronomic offerings always invite you to take a short break.

May 31, 2025,Kiel - Eckernförde
Beautiful route from Kiel. After the Bülk lighthouse (from the Stril coast), the path becomes very rough along the cliffs; it might be better to turn off earlier. Unfortunately, later on, it only runs along the main road and doesn't offer a direct view of the Baltic Sea.

Today we went with the racing bike and a luggage carrier, where a screw was already missing in Kiel, along the blue ribbon that encloses Schleswig-Holstein, on beautiful paths and with delicious fish sandwiches to our destination. In the morning there were almost no people on the beach, but unfortunately the water was still very fresh (13*), but it was …

Finally a tour start outside of Kappeln. We, Silke and I, start our tour over the Danish Wohld to Kiel at the "Green Hunter". The sun means well with us at first. We follow the signs for the Baltic Coast Cycle Path and drive via Bülk Lighthouse, Strande to Holtenau. Here at Thiessenkai there is a well-deserved fish roll, really …

Baltic Coast Cycle Path..... once again a very, very nice tour! A pleasure, especially the way along the steep coast 🥴🤣

Today we continued in mostly fine weather. A heavy hailstorm soon passed. The Baltic Sea Coastal Cycle Route mostly follows good cycle paths along country roads with heavy traffic. Therefore, we left the route and cycled along the coast. After a few hours over hill and dale, we finally found ourselves back next to the noisy cars, finally reaching our …

Second part of the Baltic Sea bike tour after we had already come from Lübeck to Kiel in 2023. The weather was sunny and not too hot. After arriving by train, we went straight up the entire Kiel line with cruise ships, sailing ships and lots of "seers". The beach a little further out of Kiel was also very nice …

The route between Eckernförde and Kiel runs mainly directly along busy federal and country roads 🛵🏍️🚙🚗🛻🚐🚚🚛🚜 Not nice at all 👎
