Built in 1819, the Palazzo Morelli di Locorotondo is a treasure trove of architectural testimonies that connect the present with the city's royal past.
The Palazzo Morelli di Locorotondo, built in 1819, a few steps from the Municipal Library, is a refined example of bourgeois architecture.
In 1870 the building was renovated in some parts, softening its architectural appearance by superimposing a small circular aedicule that once formed one of the smaller bell towers next to the dome of what is now the Mother Church.
On the main façade of the building stands the magnificent, richly decorated portal on which stand out the family coat of arms and a mask of good fortune.. Also noteworthy and still well preserved are the magnificent balconies that support the characteristic wrought iron railing with breast of goose, a particular feature of many Baroque buildings in southern Italy.
Crossing the front door opens a graceful courtyard where, around the external staircase, you can see a hierarchical distribution of spaces, typical of Dominican homes.
