Expect a ride through varied Southern California landscapes, from hard-packed fire roads to loose and sandy sections. The Shady Canyon Trail offers a smoother decomposed granite path, but Serrano Ridge will test you with rocky stretches and steep grades, especially near the intersection with the Quail Trail. You'll be treated to expansive views of the San Gabriel and Santa Ana mountains, and on clear days, even downtown Los Angeles and Crystal Cove State Park from Serrano Ridge.
