Schelenburg

Highlight • Castle

The name of the castle is derived from the von Schele family. In 1396, Rabodo von Schele married the heiress Elisabeth von Sledesen, whose family ruled the then castle for a good 300 years and gave the district of Schledehausen its name.

Schelenburg Castle

Highlight • Castle

Although the restaurant in the Schellenberg moated castle has long been closed and the building is now used privately, it is still worth taking a look from the outside. The palace complex is well preserved and has been enthroned there since the 12th century. After a fire, the building was rebuilt from scratch in the 16th century. In 1980 the castle was completely renovated.

Highlight • Trail

More of a hiking trail. But in dry weather, it's also very suitable for cycling.

There are also two steles of a Stations of the Cross along the way. A brand new covered seating area has been added.

Super nice, muddy tour. Today we headed towards Schledehausen, where we found a really nice trail! Despite the rain in between, it was a great tour!
