In 1939 the "Holzlager" labor camp was set up in the city forest on behalf of IG Farben. 1400 forced laborers were housed there. The humane, religious guiding principle of the board did not fit into the National Socialist worldview and it was taken down.

After the war, a local painter made a smaller panel and put it back in the "Armenseelenschlag" forest department.
