"Why look far away..." - having just returned from the Hainich, we hiked the border path in Eppenbrunn today in the most beautiful autumn weather: simply fantastic! Along the Altschloßfelsen we followed the Altschloßpfad, however, as you can see more of the rocks that way (the border path runs over the rocks here).

A beautiful path away from the crowds (at least up to the Altschlossfelsen😉).

Today we went to the Altschlossfelsen and along the German-French border around Eppenbrunn. The Altschlossfelsen are very impressive and great monuments of world history. And countless other hikers felt the same way, because the Altschlosspfad was almost like a motorway 🤪. The border path was a lot quieter. This leads directly along the German-French border 🇩🇪🇫🇷, from the end of …

Today the three of us hiked the beautiful Grenzweg with Rita:

We had ideal weather conditions and some wonderful autumn colors.

Half of France seemed to be on the way to the Altschlossfelsen today ;-) But after the rocks we luckily didn't meet so many hikers anymore.

So up to about 5 km the tour was more on wide paths, partly with gravel. After that it got better. But it was wonderfully quiet and not busy, at least not up to the Altschlossfelsen🙈 That's where the bear tapped.Nevertheless, we managed to find a lonely place to take a break on the rock.

A highly recommended tour with three very different sections: the wild and romantic landscape of the Stüdenbach and Schöneichel valleys, the idyllic and secluded path along the German-French border, and the route past the impressive Altschlossfelsen rocks (an absolute must for visitors to the Palatinate, even if you'll encounter a lot of day-trippers here).

Today's tour started at Spießweiher in Eppenbrunn. Via the Stüdenbach forester's lodge and past various ponds, we went up to the Zollstockhütte and continued on the border path between Germany and France, which is marked by numerous boundary stones. We continued along narrow paths to the Altschlossfelsen, one of the most beautiful natural monuments. We have planned the Altschlosspfad, which …

Wonderful ☺️ Always amazing what beautiful places Germany has to offer. If you ever come here; takes time - because: yes, you can really admire every rock and take photos from different angles. And when the light changes due to the approaching twilight, there are completely new impressions again 😉
