Instow Station on the Tarka Trail

Highlight • Cycleway

Flat and easy to ride trail, we picked it up in Barnstaple and followed to Bideford. I am sure there are lovely views across the Estuary however we didn't get to enjoy them as there was a low sea mist the day we rode! Some nice little cafe stops along the way at old stations.

Large flocks of starlings can be seen in late summer after riding under the bridge. The bridge offers great views along Bideford Quay and on the Torridge Bridge.

Appledore Village

Highlight • Religious Site

Appledore is a beautiful coastal village characterised by its winding narrow streets, colourful houses, and rich maritime history. The village is located on the banks of the River Torridge and provides some excellent views across the crystal clear water toward Instow on the other side.

The village features a number of fantastic pubs, restaurants, and cafés, as well as some shops, two churches, and a ferry port which can take you to Instow.
