RAVeL 150B Along the Lesse River

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

It is possible to go down the Lesse by kayak or canoe from Houyet or Gendron, in Anseremme. The long descent from Houyet is 21 km, the short descent of the Lesse from Gendron, 12 km. In the event of insufficient water flow, the descent may be limited to the short 12 km route, or even closed completely.

Houyet and Gendron are accessible by train from Anseremme and by bus. The TECs provide regular connections from the bottom of the descent directly to the departures of Houyet and Gendron, thus allowing people interested in the descent of the Lesse to leave their car at the bottom and collect it at the end of the day.

Since 1981, the last weekend of August, the regional athletics club, ARCH, has organized a running race. Also called Descente de la Lesse, two distances are proposed as for kayaking, either from Houyet or from Gendron, the arrivals being judged in Dinant on the banks of the Meuse.
