Regitzer Spitz Viewpoint

Highlight • Viewpoint

Regitzer Spitz 1135 m above sea level, Fläsch
At 1135 m above sea level, the Regitzer Spitz is the main peak of the Fläscherberg range in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. It is the westernmost spur of the Rätikon range.
The mountain lies within the municipality of Fläsch, with the village located slightly south between Regitzer Spitz and the Rhine to the west. The northern foot of the Fläscherberg forms the state and national border with the Principality of Liechtenstein. The latter's territory on the Fläscherberg never reaches higher than 660 meters, which is only 200 meters above the valley floor near Balzers.

St. Peter's Chapel, Mäls (Balzers)

Highlight • Religious Site

St. Peter's Chapel in Mäls
The St. Peter's Chapel in Mäls is one of the oldest preserved religious buildings in Liechtenstein. Together with the medieval tower house, it forms a special ensemble. It was probably originally the center of a stately estate and is considered the core of the Mäls settlement.
The small chapel was built around 1300 and was probably originally a private house chapel. However, it was first mentioned in writing in 1510 on the occasion of a renovation. At that time, the rectangular chapel room was expanded to include a choir closed on three sides. The patron saints St. Peter and Paul were mentioned for the first time in 1513. The bell tower, which houses two bells, was added at the end of the 16th century. There was also a tower clock until 1950.
Of particular importance are the late Gothic winged altar, which was built around 1516, and a wooden figure of an enthroned Virgin Mary from around 1415.
The chapel underwent several structural changes in the 19th and 20th centuries. It has been a listed building since 1951. The last major renovation took place between 1969 and 1971, during which archaeological and architectural studies were also carried out. On July 18, 1971, the altar was consecrated in honor of Saints Peter, John the Evangelist and Paul.
Today, St. Peter's Chapel is filled with devotion and life at least once a week from White Sunday to All Saints' Day, when a mass is celebrated, but also when occasional weddings or services are held to mark silver or golden wedding anniversaries.
