Sainte-Pitère Church, Le Tréhou

Highlight • Other

Built in the 16th century, the Sainte-Pitère church was remodeled in the following century.
The first thing that catches the eye is the domed bell tower (1649) that rises elegantly into the sky.
The listed Calvary from 1578 is a beautiful example of the harmonious fusion of the two types of stone. The 12 apostles are carved in low relief on the base. The statue of Sainte-Pitère, finely carved in kersanton, dominates the Renaissance porch, in which a sandbox bears the date 1610. In the porch there are 4 statues of the apostles, the work of the Landernéen sculptor Roland Doré.

Daoulas is a commune located on the Mignonne estuary which flows into Brest harbor. Lurking in the shadow of the magnificent railway viaduct which connects Brest to Quimper, the city remains no less welcoming. Many shops welcome the curious, coming via the GR 34 or for a Sunday stroll. Its abbey, the Pont mill and the Saint-Anne chapel belong to the monuments that arouse everyone's curiosity.

Hôpital-Camfrout

Highlight • Settlement

Hôpital-Camfrout, more commonly called "l'Hôpital-Camfrout", is a pretty little town where the Camfrout river flows into Brest harbor. With more than 2,000 inhabitants, it offers numerous shops, practical for itinerants on the GR 34. If the schedule invites you to do so, stop by the village church, built in the 16th century with help stones extracted from neighboring quarries.

The Camfrout (low tide)

Highlight • Other

The Camfrout flows into the city's port and mixes directly with the port's salt water, making the port one of the few river ports in Finistère. Its mouth is very wide and opens onto the port of Brest, where it joins that of Aulne. This estuary is a veritable estuary and is accessible at high tide to vessels with a draft of 5m at spring tide and 4m at neap tide. It has long been frequented by boats that in particular served the quarries that exploited the stone of Kersanton , the export of which was favored for a long time.
