Centrally located in Hobro you will find the old Bies Brewery, where the two Bie brothers started producing mineral water and later beer in 1841. The brewery was the absolute pride of the city for 140 years and popular beer brands such as Hobbie and Fyrkat became popular across Denmark. In 1980 the first part of the Hobro era ended when the brewery closed.
After several years without local beer, the brewery is brewing again. The brewery has moved into the old horse stable of the former brewery.
Fyrkat, Torvekone, Væbner and Hobbie, these are the names of good beer, brewed with proud local traditions in the heart of Hobro. Here, at the end of the 19th century, the Bies brothers founded the Bies brewery, which is now run by a new small brewery with the same name. The original beer and soda brewery was closed in the 1980s, after which the brewery courtyard was converted into the “Kunstetagerne” art museum, among other things.
