Rotbach Pathway

Highlight • Trail

Great route on the Rotbach. For information ℹ️, the Rotbach is a 21.9 km long, orographically right tributary of the Rhine. The source rises as Vennbach in Königshardt and flows south of Möllen into the Rhine.

Rotbach Trail

Highlight • Trail

I've known the Rotbach stream since we moved to Hiesfeld, which is a good 25 years ago.
Thanks to the restoration work, the once straight-flowing stream has once again become a natural stream that meanders its way.
I think it's great when we can once again recognize nature in its original form.

It's nice that you can walk or drive on both sides of the Rhine-Herne Canal. We particularly noticed on this tour that the heavy ships pushed almost silently through the canal. The usual engine noise could not be heard.👍

A beautiful circular tour through the western Ruhr area – and this time Birgit was with us. 😊
The first part of the route once again took us idyllically along the Rotbach stream to Rotbachsee. Then we headed out into the countryside and past the old mine in Sterkrade. We continued past the Rot-Weiß Oberhausen stadium to the impressive gasometer.

Showing Translation

This interesting circular tour begins at the Oberhausen Gasometer and leads us up to the "Roof of the Ruhr Area"—the Haniel spoil tip, at 159 meters (184.9 meters above sea level), the highest permanently accessible spoil tip in the Ruhr region.

Showing Translation

As far as Dinslaken, it went along the Rotbach on well-known paths. Back to Bottrop, new ways were tried. Sometimes they have to be rescheduled.

You can also use the waiting time for the car inspection sensibly
