And when Mother Holle was at work it has a special charm... even if the white wall... well... in the snow... you understand... is white anyway

Brunhildis Rock (Großer Feldberg)

Highlight • Natural Monument

The meeting point is on the summit plateau. A little away from the road, you can enjoy the wide view over the Hintertaunus from here. When the visibility is good, you can see as far as the Westerwald and the Vogelsberg.

Telecommunications Tower

Highlight • Monument

The most striking structure on the plateau of the Großer Feldberg is the 69.13 meter high television tower. The building was started in 1937 by the then Reichspost and completed in 1939. Since the transmission tower was used for war purposes, it fell victim to bombing raids on March 8, 1945. The reconstruction of the current building began in 1950. From 1953 onwards, Nordwestdeutscher Rundfunk television was broadcast from here. Television and radio programs are still broadcast from here today - although the technology has changed several times. The tower is operated by the Telekom subsidiary T-Systems. The building has been a listed building since 1987.

Großer Feldberg Summit

Highlight • Summit

Regardless of the season, our large Feldberg always has something to offer: in summer this region is the purest hiking and cycling paradise, in winter it is the highest
Ascent of the Taunus numerous tobogganers and winter hikers.
In good weather there are great views in all directions up there! It's best to stop in the restaurant for refreshment, they have great dishes there, and you have to allow for a little waiting time at peak times.
In a pinch there is still a kiosk / snack outside where you can get passable sausage, etc. :-)
Parking spaces and even public transport available.
Great Feldberg again and again with pleasure!

Weil Spring

Highlight • Natural

The Weil spring is located at approximately 740 meters in the immediate vicinity of the former Feldberg fort! This is where the Roman Limes guards once drew their fresh water, and this is probably why they chose this location for a fort (rather than directly at the strategically much more advantageous "Red Cross" pass).

Kleiner Feldberg Roman Fort

Highlight • Historical Site

The Limes ran right through the Taunus more than 2,000 years ago. Countless watchtowers and forts still bear witness to this today. Some are well reconstructed and preserved, others only have the foundations. At the Kleiner Feldberg fort there are still remains of the wall, so you can get a good idea of the extent. Incidentally, this example is the highest Roman fort on the entire Limes.

November 23, 2022,Taunus: Großer Feldberg – Römerkastell - Kleiner Feldberg
A round in Hochtaunus! From the large Feldberg the tour went part of the Limesweg, over the Weil spring, to the Roman fort and around the small Feldberg. Later, when we were back at the large Feldberg, the fog even cleared and allowed a great view for a short time.
This round went to the Weil source at the then …

Visited a summit cross again for a long time. The only strange thing was that there was a bus stop next to it
