The Skyline Drive runs 105 miles (168 km) along the Blue Ridge Mountains in the Shenandoah National Park. You pay $15 to travel along the road with your bike. Bear in mind that the road can be closed at short notice depending on weather conditions.

Old Rag View Overlook

Highlight • Viewpoint

Facing east-northeast, this overlook offers you a nice peek at Old Rag Mountain, one of the most popular summit hikes in Shenandoah National Park. This viewpoint sits at 3,585 feet (1,092 m) in elevation, whereas Old Rag stands 3,291 feet (1,003 m) tall, so you're actually higher than the mountain's summit.

Highest Point on Skyline Drive

At 3,680 ft (1,121 m), this is the highest point of Skyline Drive. The views reward you for all your effort; the layers of mountains are spectacular. Watch out for snowfall in winter.

Pinnacles Overlook

Pinnacle Ridge is the obvious star of this 3,320 ft (1011 m) lookout point, but you can also see Hot Mountain to the left of the ridge, and Old Rag Mountain — one of the most popular summit hikes in all of Shenandoah National Park — in the distance.

Hazel Mountain Overlook

Highlight • Viewpoint

This lookout point has an interesting granodiorite formation underfoot. That is literally the bedrock of the Blue Ridge Mountains, originally formed miles beneath the earth's surface. When you look out to the southeast you'll also see Buck Ridge first, then Hazel Mountain in the distance.

Buck Hollow Overlook

Highlight • Viewpoint

This is a great scenic viewpoint. As you face east-northeast you can see Skinner Ridge in the near distance, with Buck Ridge farther back and to the right, and the town of Sperryville even farther past that, just visible in the distance on a clear day.

Tunnel Overlook

Highlight • Viewpoint

This is one of the most popular viewpoints in Shenandoah National Park. It looks east from an elevation of 2,510 feet (756 m), toward the town of Sperryville in the distance. You'll also see Skinner Ridge in the near distance on your right, and Oventop Mountain to the left of, and a little nearer than, Sperryville.
