"The Ramsachkircherl, affectionately called 'Ähndl' in the vernacular, is said to be the oldest church in Upper Bavaria, probably founded in the 7th century by St. Mang.
Christianization began in southern Bavaria as early as the 3rd and 4th centuries through preaching wandering monks. The first hermitages arose, later churches and monasteries were founded. According to ancient traditions, there is said to have been a Celtic cult here when an Irish-Scottish wandering monk settled down. It was said earlier that the old altar stone and three stone steps should still come from this time. An ossuary used to belong to the churchyard, which is enclosed with a wall. In 1634, when the plague raged in Murnau, many dead were carried here for burial. "
