Mittelburg Castle

The Mittelburg (1165) was heavily rebuilt several times. During the Renaissance, the medieval castle complex was transformed into a Heidelberg-style castle. 1820 were added in the course of the usual romanticization neo-Gothic elements.

Four Castles Tour Neckarsteinach

Rarely does one have the opportunity to visit four castles in such a small space. Whether a short walk or as part of a larger hike, the Four Castle Trail is definitely worth a visit.

Vorderburg and Mittelburg are both privately owned are not accessible.
The Vorderburg is fenced wide and you get really only the keep from the distance to face. At the Mittelburg run the public paths along the outer walls and you also get a good impression of the beautifully preserved grounds from the outside.

The two ruins Hinterburg and Schwalbennest are freely accessible and offer great views in Neackartal.

Today we wanted to tackle the second stage of the Neckarsteig (from Neckargemünd to Neckarsteinach). But that was only about a whopping 10km 😂. So I looked around for a supplementary tour nearby and came across this four-castle tour in Neckarsteinach.
