The highlight was the visit to the Affenberg, where approx. 200 Barbary macaques live in 3 groups on the 29-hectare site. Worldwide, there are only approx. 8000 macaques left in the wild; they are on the red list of endangered species, but thanks to species-appropriate husbandry, the macaques living here can be released back into the wild.
