View of Buachaille Etive Mòr

Highlight • Viewpoint

This imposing mountain (pronounced 'boorkeleh ettiv moor') fills this landscape and seems to watch over the surrounding moors. At a height of 3,353 feet (1022 m), it's one of the higher surrounding peaks and can be a challenging scramble to get to the top.

The name is Gaellic and means "Great Herdsman of Etive" after the River Etive that almost surrounds it.

From here, you are afforded beautiful views of Stob Dearg, the seemingly unassailable rocky fortress that makes up the termination of Buachaille Etive Mòr. There are a few options for summiting this imposing crag, the easiest involves a tough walk with minimal scrambling and the difficulty then ramps up with a number of epic trad climbing routes up the face itself.

Glen Etive Scenic Road

Highlight (Segment) • Viewpoint

Simply stunning back road running from Glen Coe National Park right through to Loch Etive.

The views are epic but it is pretty remote so make sure you've got all fuel and spares you need.

Kingshouse Hotel

Highlight • Restaurant

A hotel has stood on this spot since the 1800s when it was built and named by the British. Sitting in incredible surroundings, it provides a stark contrast to the wilderness.

If you head a little north over the river, you'll find a beautiful wild camping spot with room for 6-10 tents and fresh running water.

Any Wild Camper looking for a shower will find it near the Kingshouse Hotel. A relatively new facility of the hotel offers hikers in transit the opportunity to freshen up or facilitate.
