Since we've already had the experience a few times that it is actually possible to ride through a construction site as a cyclist, we tried it here too. Not least because the detour would be a bit complicated or would take place on the motorway. So we drove to the construction site and into it, but were ultimately held up by the construction workers because there is a huge hole in the road. I have no idea what it's like at the weekend when there isn't any work going on, but there was no way for us to get through. So the only options left were the detour over the mountains or the shortest option via the motorway. We took the motorway, which has a very wide shoulder and wasn't too busy.
