Thousands of birds, including cranes and eagles, inhabit the area between Warthe and Postomia in the Lower Warthe Nature Reserve. It takes barely a few steps to go there, life takes place around you.
You can drive to the observation point (car park there), then you could walk on the Betonka to the next observation tower, if the floods allow it.
Important is warm clothing, as it is always cooler in the reserve because of the location than in the area and the wind blows frequently.

Sonnenburg Castle Ruins (Słońsk)

The first palace was built in 1341. From 1545 to 1564, the Order of St. John built a new palace and church. This palace was destroyed during the Thirty Years' War. Lord Master Johann Moritz of Nassau-Siegen had a new residential palace built from 1662 to 1667.

The palace served as the residence of Lord Master Prince Oskar of Prussia until 1945. It survived the Second World War unscathed, but burned down in 1973 under circumstances that remain unclear. Only the main walls remain.

St. John’s Church (Kościół św. Jana) in Słońsk

The current Catholic parish church in Sonnenburg (Słonsk) was built as a church of St. John and consecrated in 1508. Since 1550 the knighthood of the Knights of St. John took place in this church. The building, a late Gothic three-aisled hall church with a magnificent star vault, was therefore richly furnished. The interior of the church is characterized by the late Gothic tendril painting of the vault in yellow and green tones with flowers in the middle of the surfaces. The painting was rediscovered and renewed in 1925 under several whitewashes. In the central nave, the tendrils are interrupted by the coats of arms of all 24 master masters since 1305, beginning with the eight-pointed St. John's Cross. The coat of arms of the city of Sonnenburg ends above the organ choir. More than 200 gold-plated keystones in the network of the vault show saints, martyrs, Madonnas, guild signs or images of animals.
