About the hotel

The Hotel zum Badehaus is located directly on the Saale River. The first saltwater bath was built in Bad Dürrenberg around 1800. In 1885, the former storehouse was converted into a bathhouse on this site, and by 1897, bathing cubicles for adults and children, a reading room, and a larger waiting room had been established. In 1927, approximately 4,500 guests annually relaxed in Bad Dürrenberg, and a real cultural center emerged, which lasted until 1965. In the following years, the Old Bathhouse served as a sauna with physiotherapy. The sauna was then closed in 1990. It wasn't until 1996 that local businesses joined forces to secure the reconstruction of this historic building.
