Fredersdorf (b Berlin) Station

Highlight • Rest Area

The train station is in the Fredersdorf district of the Fredersdorf-Vogelsdorf municipality, approx. 300 m east of the town centre. The station on the Ostbahn was opened on September 15, 1872 and was initially called Petershagen. Since January 1, 1875, it was called Fredersdorf and had a middle and a side platform because the line to Rüdersdorf branched off here. On May 1, 1911, the station was renamed Fredersdorf station (Niederbarnim district).
After a brief cessation of train services in April 1945, the station reopened on September 10 of the same year. A new station building was built, which is now privately owned. On September 1, 1948, the electrification of the S-Bahn to Fredersdorf followed. The station was the terminus for a short time, but on October 31, 1948 the S-Bahn line was extended to Strausberg. On May 30, 1965, passenger services on the branch line from Fredersdorf station to Rüdersdorf were discontinued, making access to the side platform superfluous. From June to December 2004, a new pedestrian bridge and three elevators were built in order to be able to reach the station barrier-free.

Twisted Pine Tree (Natural Monument)

Highlight • Natural Monument

This bizarrely grown pine tree stands northwest of the cycle track, directly on the path along the edge of the forest. Decades ago, its branches served as a popular climbing object for Fredersdorf children. Today the beautiful tree is a natural monument, marked with the conservation owl on a yellow background.

As is well known, beautiful is relative 😊. The path designated as such leads along a former rubbish dump from the A10 motorway to Elisenhof. At the end of the landfill, it meets the Elisenhof road, which takes you back to the Neuenhagener Mühlenfiß (Erpe) and the Wiesengrund nature reserve.

Wiesengrund Nature Reserve

Highlight • Natural Monument

The "Wiesengrund" nature reserve, designated in 2003, is located in the area of the town of Altlandsberg and the municipality of Neuenhagen near Berlin. The approximately 117.5 hectare nature reserve stretches along the Erpe (Neuenhagener Mühlenfliess). Within the nature reserve there is also the separately designated FFH area no. 438 "Wiesengrund" with a size of approx. 84.2 ha. The FFH area is a section of the "Erpe" with its adjacent lowland biotopes, small floodplain forests with alder or alder-ash and some broken alder forests.

Dirt Road to Altlandsberg

Highlight • Trail

North of the L33 bridge, Bollensdorfer Weg splits. Both paths lead to Altlandsberg: the right path leads to the Scheunenviertel and the left, the E11, into the Wiesengrund along the Erpe.
