The district of Dahlewitz is bounded to the northwest and west by the Glasowbach lowland opposite Glasow and Blankenfelde. The Glasowbach begins west of Selchow and ends in the Krummen Lanke and thus in the Rangsdorfer See. They are remnants of a meltwater channel running in a north-south direction.

The silting process, which has continued for thousands of years, also included the Blankenfelder See, a meltwater channel from the Ice Age glacier, which existed until the 1930s and was connected to the Rangsdorf lake via today's Krumme Lanke. In old maps and loan deeds it was referred to as Die Lanke, Die Krumme Lanke or "Der See, die Lanke".

In the extensive swampy edge areas, not only the numerous wild boars feel comfortable. The designated nature reserve Blankenfelder See offers habitat for endangered animal and plant species. About 70 different bird species have been recorded in the relatively small area. A special feature is the otter, which is endangered nationwide.

In every season it is worthwhile to take a 7 km long hiking trail, the well-marked nature trail created in 1998, coming from the forest road in Dahlewitz to contemplate the beauties of nature.
