Exford Bridge Tea Rooms

Highlight • Cafe

Brilliant little cyclist friendly cafe in Exford, a great stop-off point for rides both on and off road on Exmoor. It's really close to Dunkery Beacon, the highest point in Somerset, so that makes this village a popular spot with hikers and cyclists alike.

Be sure to try a cream tea, with scones, cream and jam, a staple of this part of the South West! But remember, cream first...

Alternatively, there's a village store nearby or a pub next door if you fancy something different.

Here's the climb from Exford village to the top of Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor (and in Somerset) from Exford village. There's a steep lane leading to the bridleway that goes up through the fields - beware it can be very sloppy in the winter! Near the tops past the gates it gets more rocky as you approach the cairn summit.

St Mary Magdalene Church, Winsford

Highlight • Historical Site

Despite evidence of a church on this site before the Norman Conquest of the 11th century, this church is later, with the tower actually dating back to the 15th century.
Originally, it was dedicated to a Celtic saint before adopting its current dedication.
The nave, chancel, and porch were constructed in the mid-19th century.
