Filming location for the popular series The Bergdoktor
The Hinterschnabel farm was first mentioned in the village's history in 1694. The former Ellmau mayor Johann Leitner took over his mother's farm in 1985 and has been running it on the Ellmau Faistenbichl ever since.
Until the Bergdoktor film team became aware of the farm in 2007, the residential wing was empty because it was not connected to the electricity grid. Since the Bergdoktor has been running his film practice there, the former farmhouse rooms have been lovingly converted and refurbished. The meadows and fields of the Hinterschnabel farm are still managed by Hans Leitner.
The Ellmau residents are proud of the new landmark, which is now admired by around 8 million television viewers for several weeks a year and makes people want to go on holiday in the Tyrolean mountains.

In summer, the original film set can be visited every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Please note that there may be changes due to filming. The current opening status and opening hours can be found in the entry.
