Sumvitg Valley

Highlight • Gorge

South of Sumvitg extends the V-shaped Val Sumvitg (Somvixertal). In summer, the bus leaves from the stations Rabius and Sumvitg to the reservoir Runcahez, a welcome shortcut to the otherwise long strait. It is still one of the most popular locations in Romansh literature in Graubünden. At the end of the valley, the Somvixer Rhine sloshes through the narrow, steep gorge, above leads the old mule track in the Greina.

Waterfall Below Frontescha

Highlight • Waterfall

The mountain stream runs here flatter over beautiful polished stones and invites in the summer for a short stay.

Crest la Greina

Highlight • Mountain Pass

The ridge between the ravine of the Rein da Sumvitg and the slopes of the Piz Miezdi is ideal for a mule track: at the height you are protected from falling rocks and avalanches from the lateral mountain flanks. The way is partly steep and a bit exhausting, short sections are a bit exposed and rope secured (T3), but there are beautiful views into the Val Sumvitg. And as you get closer, the outlines of the stone terri hut gradually dissolve out of the rock-gray surroundings.

Terrihütte

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The Terrihütte (2,170 meters) sits like a guard on a hill at the upper end of Val Sumvitg, in front of the two accesses to the Greina plain (east or west side of Muot la Greina) and high above the Rein da Sumvitg gorge. The ascent from Val Sumvitg leads over the Crest la Greina ridge along this gorge, shorter passages are rope insured (T3). terrihuette.ch
