Heimstetten Open-Air Museum:

Bavarian Farmstead Kirchheim - open May to September every Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment

The Bavarian Farmstead Kirchheim is a reconstructed farmstead from the Merovingian period (c. 450–750 AD). The reconstruction does not follow any original site but is based on findings from archaeological excavations, primarily in the Munich gravel plain (e.g., settlement excavations in Kirchheim, south of Tassilostraße, in the early 1980s).

The museum consists of a Merovingian-era farmstead, which has been reconstructed as realistically as possible based on archaeological findings, mainly from the Munich region, and taking into account experimental archaeological findings. Founded in the winter of 2003, the Bajuwarenhof was Kirchheim's official contribution to the 2005 Federal Garden Show. The 2,800-square-meter site was also provided by the municipality. The museum is operated by the Friends of the Bajuwarenhof Kirchheim association. The museum's work focuses on a practical depiction of rural life and work in the 6th and 7th centuries AD. At the same time, the site serves as a research location for long-term practical experiments addressing a wide range of archaeological questions. Source: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bajuwarenhof_Kirchheim
