Inspired by the Douro River and its history, the Viver o Douro route takes you to three unique viewpoints, all designed in the image of the iconic rabelo boat. This is the first of them.

The rabelo, a traditional wooden boat, was essential for transporting goods, especially Port wine, between the Alto Douro Wine Region and the city of Porto. With a flat bottom and a characteristic keel, it glided through the waters of the river loaded with barrels. If you want to see one up close, there is an example on display at Parque das Tílias, in Castelo de Paiva.
