William Bradley is Market Weighton's most famous resident. Although born in 1787 he remains Britain's tallest ever man at 7ft 9 inches tall and weighing 27 stone. There is a statue of Bradley in the town and his giant chair still sits in the Londesborough Arms.

Goodmanham Mill House

Now a private dwellinghouse that was originally a paper mill, but was converted to a corn mill in the 1810s. A windmill was incorporated between the watermill and mill house to deal with the unreliable water source. Both mills were demolished in 1940. All Hallows Church, Goodmanham

Highlight • Historical Site

All Hallows Church was built in 1130 on the site of a former pagan temple. Historians believe the tower was built in 1180.

Inside, the font dates from the early 16th century and has interesting carvings on its bowl and stem. In 1850, an earlier font dating to the 9th century was found in a nearby farmyard — where it had been used as a drinking trough — and was returned to the church. All Hallows is Grade I-listed.
