Trailhead for Via Ferrata Brigata Tridentina

Highlight • Trail

Good starting point for a tour to the Rifugo Pisciadu via the via ferrata.

This rock face is probably the most difficult part of the Tridentina via ferrata, which leads from the parking lot below the Gardena Pass up to the Pisciadu hut. Long traffic jams often form on this rock face due to the difficult climbing passages. In addition, the exit from this rock face is via a suspension bridge that spans a very deep gap between the rock towers. In addition to the climbing passages on the rock face, the photos also show the suspension bridge with rock cut and views of the via ferrata from further up on the easy path to the Pisciadu hut. The entire via ferrata is very exciting. From the car park to the exit above the suspension bridge, a good 500 meters in altitude have to be overcome. It begins with a path up to a first rock wall with a first shorter part of the via ferrata. After a further path uphill on a path, there is quite a long climb on the rock walls. Three hours should be planned (or more if it gets very busy!).

Very nice. Certainly the highlight on the via ferrata, which otherwise doesn't tend to have spectacular sections. If you are 1.80 m tall, you need to keep your head down. 😂

Franco Cavazza Hut at Pisciadù

Highlight • Mountain Hut

The mountain hut of the same name is located directly above Lake Pisciadù. The moon-like landscape in which the hut stands really seems to be out of this world. The surrounding walls rise up craggy and the soil with little vegetation is covered by huge boulders. Over 100 mountain hikers can spend the night in the hut. Lower Val Lasties (Mittagstal)

Highlight (Segment) • Gorge

The Mittagstal / Val Lasties impresses with its high flanks and impressive size. Several signs warn that the Val Lasties is only suitable for experienced mountaineers. The lower part marked here is definitely easy to walk on. In contrast to many other gaps and valleys in the Sella massif, the Val Lasties is quickly clear of snow again in summer.

The travel times were approximately 6 hours. 3 from the parking lot to the refuge for the via ferrata tridentina

Showing Translation

We needed a total of 6 hours of walking and climbing time for the tour: 3 hours to the hut, 2.5 hours of which in the ferrata, 3 hours for the descent through the Val Mesdie (= midday valley). The shorter descent, which I used last year, wasn't really up for grabs this time because of too much snow.

Very nice tour, but reserved for expert hikers. Near the Forcella Picsiadu. There is a very steep equipped path. You climb holding on to the iron cord. Once you reach the Cavazza refuge, the view of the lake rewards the efforts of the climb. The descent towards Val de Mezdi also includes a very steep equipped path.
