New Bridge (River Barle)

Highlight • Bridge

Once an part of the Pixton Park drive, New Bridge is far from new. Built in the early 1800s, this gorgeous bridge is made from local slate stone and spans the River Barle. Today, it sits under vibrant trees and is partially covered in ivy. Its position and age gives it a bit of a mystical air and it's a genuine joy to come across on walks in the area.

The Exmoor National Park Authority has four visitor centres and this is the Dulverton branch. Often housing exhibitions of heritage and art, there's plenty of information available here. If you need any guidance or advice about exploring Exmoor, the knowledgeable staff will be more than happy to help you out.

View of Dulverton

Highlight • Settlement

Dulverton is one of the largest towns on Exmoor and is sometimes horribly overcrowded. In return, you get absolutely everything you need for tourism here, and it's also not bad as a permanent base because of the numerous places to stop for refreshments. Just peace and quiet, which is missing almost all year round

Marsh Bridge over the River Barle

Highlight • Historical Site

This pretty bridge spans the River Barle just to the north east of Dulverton in Exmoor National Park. Grade II-listed, the 18th-century crossing has undergone significant renovation and structural improvement and still serves as a road bridge today. It's particularly picturesque thanks to its white railings and green surroundings.
