Il Poggiolo Shelter – Monte Sole Regional Historical Park

Highlight • Mountain Hut

Il Poggiolo is a really welcoming bar/restaurant at the foot of Montesole, from which you can leave for excellent excursions, and return just in time to enjoy a beer or a nice glass of red wine.
There is a car park just under the Poggiolo to be able to leave the car and go on foot for excursions in the Montesole park

Marzabotto Massacre Memorial

Highlight • Monument

With Marzabotto massacre, or Monte Sole massacre, we mean the set of brutal massacres carried out by the Nazi troops between 29 September and 5 October 1944, in the context of the mopping-up operation directed against the Partisan Brigade Stella Rossa, which fought against the Nazi-fascist forces in the territories between Marzabotto, Monzuno, Grizzana Morandi and neighboring municipalities.

It is one of the most serious war crimes against the civilian population perpetrated by the German armed forces in Western Europe during the Second World War.
