The market square, which belongs to the early settlement core, is located with the town hall in the historical center of Ober-Ingelheim. Not far to the east of the square is the castle church and to the south the church of St. Michael. The war memorial from 1870/71, which replaced the old market fountain, was moved to the castle church in 1970. Since 2009 a new fountain by Wiesbaden artist Benedikt Solga has adorned the market square. He presents Ingelheim as the city of wine, asparagus and cherries.
Every year the new red wine queen is crowned on the balcony of the old town hall in Ober-Ingelheim and the popular red wine festival is opened. 🚴‍
