All Saints' Abbey ruins

Highlight • Historical Site

The remains of the monastery church form the most impressive part of the monastery ruins. Its cross-shaped floor plan is clearly visible in the still-standing walls, which display architectural styles ranging from late Romanesque to late Gothic.

Schliffkopf Summit

Highlight • Summit

The Schliffkopf is a mountain ridge sculpted by wind and ice over thousands of years. Vast, treeless wetlands known as grinden stretch across the summit region. The treeless wetlands were created in the 15th century when large areas of forest were cleared to make way for new grazing land. Intensive use led to soil compaction and waterlogging resulted in damp heathland with sparse vegetation. These so-called grinds are a characteristic part of the Black Forest landscape and the high moors and wet pastures on the Schliffkopf. In order to preserve the grinds, the heights are still grazed. The mountain is located directly on the Black Forest High Road.

The Grinden landscape with the eponymous Grinde, a tree-free wet heath on the sandstone ridges in the northern Black Forest, is a unique biotope and particularly beautiful to look at. What appears to be a barren landscape at first glance has its own special charm, which I found remarkable on the Hornisgrinde last year.
Definitely a “must see” for lovers of pure nature 🙂

View of the Lotharpfad

Highlight • Viewpoint

It's a nice place to rest. I loved seeing the mountains, all green and full of trees. It also has a bed seat next to it where you can take a nap.

All Saints Waterfalls

Highlight • Waterfall

I recommend hiking the All Saints Falls from the bottom to the top; they look more spectacular this way, as you always have the falls in front of you. They are particularly impressive in spring and after prolonged rains; after extended dry periods, they are far less beautiful. In winter, the path, if passable at all, is often icy and not without danger. In summer, it is pleasantly cool here.

April 19, 2025,Wasserfallweg Allerheiligen y Cascadas de Allerheiligen - Recorrido circular desde Maisach
A very nice ride. The only thing that bothered me—although I imagine it was because of the good weather and it being a holiday—were the motorcycles, which were making a tremendous amount of noise for almost half the ride.

I set off at 7:30. All alone and nice and cool.
Only from the waterfalls onwards were there several other people on the trail. After that, I was alone again. At the beginning, I followed the Lotharweg trail. Then there were long forest paths to the "Allerheiligenwasserfälle" parking lot. From there, it's all over the place until the destination.
Alternatively, …

Hello everyone,

The tour to the All Saints Waterfalls and the ruins was long overdue. The pictures of all the other hikers who had already treated themselves to these views were impressive.

We started on the Lothar Trail at the top of the Kniebis. Then we had time to relax, as it was all downhill. Nevertheless, we had a really …

Today's round started from the Lotharpfad parking lot directly on the Black Forest High Road. The adventure trail leads over footbridges and stairs and shows the renaturation after the devastating storm Lothar in the 90s. Then it went down a few meters and on forest roads downhill towards Allerheiligen waterfalls, the highlight of the round. We wind our way up …

After the Allerheiligen Waterfalls, there are places to stop for refreshments near the monastery ruins. We can't comment on these, as we had provisions with us. However, the farm ice cream was absolutely delicious. 😋 There's also a small monastery shop where you can buy the farm ice cream, selling honey, schnapps, gin, sparkling wine, etc., as well as souvenirs. …
