Countess Fuchs Castle

Highlight • Castle

The horseshoe-shaped castle, built in Baroque style around 1720, was erected by Charlotte Countess Fuchs, the governess and later Obersthofmeisterin (Lady of the Bedchamber) to Maria Theresa. In the mid-18th century, the Empress acquired it from the Countess's daughters and sometimes resided here. Stucco work in the staircase and in one hall has been preserved in the castle. The building now serves, among other things, as the seat of the municipal administration and as a school.

Created in 1961 by Maria Bilger-Biljan.

The fountain was originally set up in the Hietzing shopping center, after its redesign it was transferred to Sommerein in 1998, where the artist lived from 1962 to 1997.
