You are here on a sandy path with the drifting dunes of the Swolgender Heide on one side and the old riverbed of the Schuitwater on the other. The landscape around you consists of a nature reserve with a lot of variety of different soil types. The transition from high sandy soil and heath to the old Maas meander with marsh and open water is striking. Slowly but surely, the sand is being redeveloped into the original heathland it once was.
