Magdalena Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

This is the most important bridge of the four medieval ones that cross the Arga as it passes through Pamplona.

It was built in the twelfth century and later renovated in the nineteenth century. It consists of five large slightly pointed arches, triangular tajamares and semicircular discharge arches on the supports. It is related to that of Puente la Reina. A transept, probably built in the sixteenth century, points the traveler at one end of the bridge to the entrance of the Camino de Santiago to the city. In it you can see the image of the Jacobean saint.

After crossing this Romanesque bridge, the pilgrim arrives at the Tejería Park and from there to the walls of Pamplona, under the old city of Navarrería, which is accessed by the Portal de Francia.

Church of San Lorenzo

Highlight • Religious Site

Saint Lawrence (San Lorenzo), to whom this church is dedicated, is one of the early Christian martyrs from a time when Christianity was still forbidden. He was the Pope's archdeacon and was asked by the pagan emperor Valerian to hand over the church's treasure. Lawrence asked for three days, during which he distributed the church's wealth among the poor inhabitants of Rome and, after the agreed time, came to the emperor with the poor to present them to him as the church's treasure. He was then tortured to death. Legend has it that he was roasted alive on a gridiron - this attribute can be seen in many depictions of Saint Lawrence - over coals. He is said to have been in good spirits and to have asked his executioner if he would like to turn him over.
The memorial day of San Lorenzo/Saint Lawrence in the calendar of saints is August 10th.

Camino de Santiago plaque

Highlight • Monument

Pamplona has always been known as the first of the Camino, that is: the first Spanish city on the Camino de Santiago.
In this photo we have an example of the plaques placed on the ground to mark the course of the path inside the walled area of Pamplona on its route to the next stages.

Gazebo in Plaza del Castillo

Highlight • Monument

The Plaza del Castillo (Gazteluko Plaza or Gazteluko Enparantza in Basque) is a public square located in the center of the city of Pamplona (Navarra), Spain. Since its construction, the square has become the nerve center of Pamplona's social life and one of the most recognizable icons of the city, and today it is still the scene of important events in the same, so it is usually common to refer to it as "the living room" of all the people of Pamplona.

Pamplona Bullring

Highlight • Monument

The bullring of Pamplona is the bullring projected in 1920 in the Second Ensanche of Pamplona to celebrate bullfights. It has a capacity of about 19,720 spectators, after the last reform to comply with safety regulations, which makes it the largest bullring in Navarra, and the third largest in the world in terms of capacity, after the bullrings in Mexico and Madrid. It is known worldwide for the bull runs of the San Fermín Fair, which take place annually between July 7 and 14. Currently it is also used for concerts and shows.
