From Passo Serra Sant'Antonio 1608 m along the dirt road in the middle of the beech forest which in autumn has wonderful colors. The dirt road is the John Paul II Path. 3 hours there and 3 hours back. We were blessed with sunny weather. But with the melted snow the crampons were vital for some sections. The Gendarme with all the soft and slippery snow was tiring. The ice ax was a great choice for that type of climbing.
