Tigh-na-sleubhaich Cottage Ruin

Highlight (Segment) • Historical Site

As you walk along this old military road, built by General Wade's British soldiers in the 1700s, you'll come across this wonderfully dilapidated cottage, barely standing in the stark wilderness.

Given the lack of cover in this wild area, this cottage can be the perfect place to shelter from a storm and grab some lunch whilst you wait for the weather to blow over.

The West Highland Way is a tough highland route that stretches 96 miles (154 km) from Milngavie near Glasgow all the way to Fort William. The scenery takes in a huge variety of scenery along the way, from the serene shores of Loch Lomond, crosses Rannoch Moor, and meanders its way through the more familiar, rugged heights of the highlands. It is a well-waymarked route for its entire length, and it avoids the high tops, so the route is within the capabilities of most walkers. It is still, however, a hard undertaking, but a worth while one.
