Vogelsang-Warsin Beach

Highlight • Beach

The twin municipality of Vogelsang-Warsin is located in the northern part of the Ueckermünde Heath, surrounded by reeds, with direct access to the Szczecin Lagoon.
The Szczecin Lagoon, the second largest lagoon in the Baltic Sea, formed the basis for fishing, an important economic sector in the region since time immemorial.
An idyllic boat harbor and a natural sandy beach invite you to linger at any time of year. Not only the water, but also beautiful forests and developed cycle paths offer enough space for vacation planning.
The castle with its well-preserved park and the hereditary burial site of the noble von Enckevortist family are of course worth a visit. The natural, undeveloped sections of the lagoon coast in the “Am Stettiner Haff” nature park are particularly attractive.

There is a “mom and pop shop” in the village. The nearest town, the seaside resort of Ueckermünde, is 7 km away.

Vogelsang-Warsin Castle

Highlight • Castle

In 1711, Bernd Friedrich von Enckevort had a two-storey manor house built on the foundations of a former castle. In the years 1845 to 1847, the manor house under Eduard Friedrich von Enckevort was replaced by a new building in the Gothic Revival style, for which Eduard Knoblauch and Karl Friedrich Schinkel had created the plans. After a fire in 1937 it was given a mezzanine floor, so that today it has three floors; However, after this accident, the renovation took place in a rather sober architectural style. The castle is a sixteen-axis building with octagonal corner towers and battlements in the style of Tudor Gothic. The castle is surrounded by a 12,000 m² park.

In 1914 Eduard Friedrich von Enckevort fell in the First World War. He was the last manor at Vogelsang from the von Enckevort family because his sons could not keep the property. The manor house was first used as a country school home and in 1934 transferred to the Reichsbund of German officials, who set up a training camp there. During the Second World War it served as a military hospital, then as a children's home "August Bebel". After the children's home moved out in 1993, the building was empty. In the 2000s, the building was renovated, divided into condominiums and offered for sale.

Here, in the middle of the vastness of the Ueckermünde Heath, you suddenly find this hereditary burial site of the von Enkeforth family. The small cemetery is freely accessible.
