Cauldron Falls

Highlight • River

Located in the village of West Burton, Cauldron Falls are available for enjoyment by just about anyone - it's an easy walk right from the village. It is a beautiful spot - it was, in fact, one of the spots painted by Turner on his travels in the Dales.

Penhill Preceptory Ruins

Highlight • Religious Site

The remains of this chapel were excavated in 1840. The graves that you see here were within the preceptory of the Knights Templar ("preceptory" means a religious house of the Knights Templar). The chapel was built around the 13th century. In 1312, it was handed over to the Hospitallers (under duress).
