We put on our hiking boots one last time. Our route leads through the lava fields for around 16km.
On the first stage we come across the second largest volcanic crater in the world. The Sierra Negra with a height of up to 1124m and a diameter of approx. 10km.

Unfortunately, everything was shrouded in fog in the morning; the largest caldera in the Galapagos Islands was only vaguely visible. Fortunately, in the area of Volcán Chico, the view was clear, revealing colorful geological formations. The last eruption was in 2018, and the smell of sulfur still lingers in the air at times.

Today we had an incredible hike in volcanic terrain. Very challenging over the large lava field, but we were rewarded with the fantastic scenery. I tried to capture it in pictures. We are all exhausted, but totally thrilled.
