Lake of the Servant's Spring

Highlight • Natural

Llyn Ffynnon y Gwas, the Lake of the Servant's Spring, is a gorgeous, deep blue pool beneath Bwlch Cwm Brwynog on the Snowdon Ranger Path. It's a well known wild swimming spot in a stunning mountain setting, with some superb views towards Moel Hebog.

Legend has it that a young shepherd drowned in the llyn while attempting to wash his master's sheep. As if to add credence to the tale, a ruined shepherd's hut stands eerily silent, watching on from the waters' northern end.

Bwlch Glas Pass

Highlight • Natural Monument

The finger stone at Bwlch Glas marks the point at which the Pyg and Miners' Tracks reach the summit ridge and join the Crib Goch, Ranger and Llanberis Paths. Particularly helpful in poor visibility.

Snowdon Summit (Yr Wyddfa)

Highlight • Summit

Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) is perhaps the most ascended mountain in the world, and with good reason. This is a majestic mountain, as is befitting of Wales' highest point.

Its glory lies in the myriad routes to the summit. There's everything from the gentle inclines of the Llanberis path to the knife-edged arête of Crib Goch. The south side of the mountain is generally quieter, with the South Ridge in particular a fine route up. The Miners' and Pyg Tracks are straightforward, classic approaches that enter the incredible natural amphitheatre that holds Llyn Llydaw and Glaslyn.

To get the summit to yourself, rise early and avoid peak season.

Snowdon Ranger Path

Highlight (Segment) • Trail

The Snowdon Ranger Path is one of the most common routes up the mountain. Being the longest, the route presents hikers with a more gradual climb and offers ample opportunity to enjoy the surrounding landscape. It'll get a little steeper as you approach the summit, however, and you should probably pack a raincoat irrespective of what the weather forecast says...
