The River Roddlesworth Footpath is a beautiful riverside footpath that forms part of the Witton Weavers Way, which is a 32 mile (51 kilometre) circular loop set up to explore Lancashire’s history. The route goes through Roddlesworth Wood here, and not too far away are scenic Mill Lane and Roddlesworth Waterfalls.

Roddlesworth Woods

Highlight • River

Roddlesworth is a beautiful woodland that truly comes to life in spring and summer. Wild flowers here include lesser celandine, golden saxifrage and red campion, while bluebells also flourish. Chaffinches and grey wagtails are among the birdlife that can be spotted among the trees.

It's a glorious place to seek out for a peaceful ramble. There are myriad trails that explore the woodland and the reservoirs to the north. If you fancy something more strenuous, you can link the woods with a hike up to Darwen Tower on the high moors.

What a brilliant viewpoint this is. There is a perfectly placed bench, to sit and take in the views. Worth the 10 min detour before you head onto the path to Darwen Tower.
