Tuddenham St Mary Village

Highlight • Religious Site

Tuddenham is a traditional Suffolk village that affords a perfect pit-stop. With a decent pub that serves food, two cafes, shops, and a Grade I-listed church from the 14th century, there is plenty to explore. Tuddenham was settled as far back as 854 AD and the village has several entries in the Domesday Book.

The Purple Pantry

Highlight • Cafe

Farm shop, deli & cafe, right on the Icknield way. There's outside seating and they were happy for us to fill up water bottles from the outside tap.

Icknield Way Cycle Trail

Highlight • Viewpoint

Wide tyres recommended when it’s dry...the sand is super deep in places. Beautiful view across the heathlands

Cavenham Heath is a National Nature Reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest. Wildlife thrives in the reserve and there are plenty of trails to view it up-close. You can observe birds including the rare stone curlew, common whitethroats, and wheatears. Between March and October adders are found in this area. They are quite timid and do not usually bite unless they feel threatened. However, keep a close watch on dogs during this period.

Cavenham Heath Nature Reserve

Highlight • Forest

Discover the wilds of Cavenham Heath
with acres of stunning heathland and
woodland landscapes, superb in late
summer when the land turns a
beautiful shade of purple as the
heather starts to bloom.
The heath offers walking 3 trails; a Woodland Trail
which is a very peaceful easy access route, a
Heathland Trail which is more adventurous but
offers wonderful views across the Lark Valley and a
Wetland Trail, a more demanding route alongside the River Lark.
There are no facilities at Cavenham Heath
