Tor y Foel Summit

Highlight • Summit

Rising in isolation above the serene Talybont Reservoir, Tor y Foel's 1,808-foot (551 m) summit is a grand objective. Often ascended from Llangynidr to the east or Talybont to the north, its unique position makes it a fine vantage point for taking in the emerald bulk of the Central Beacons massif. It can be linked with the smaller Craig Danywenallt to the north, the location of an Iron Age hillfort.

I think this is a marvellous picnic bench, I actually think it is the best one I have seen....and in the perfect place.

The Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal is a stunning waterway meandering through the Brecon Beacons National Park for 35 miles (56 km). Here, it flows through Llangynidr with a series of locks, only adding to its picturesque nature. You can follow the canal along its towpath for as long as you like.

Llangynidr Stone Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

Nestled in the Usk Valley, between the upland massifs of the Central Beacons and the Black Mountains, is the village of Llangynidr. It is superbly situated as a base from which to explore the Brecon Beacons National Park and has a number of good accommodation options. The finest sight in the village is its Grade I-listed stone bridge.

From Llangynidr, a hike up one of the Beacon's few standalone hills, to the summit of Tor y Foel at 1,808 feet (551 m), is recommended. The ascent rewards with excellent views back towards Sugar Loaf and the top is a great vantage for the Central Beacons.

Welsh: Coed-yr-Ynys Bridge

Stone bridge, dating from around 1700, would be the oldest bridge over the Usk.
About half a century before the construction of the current stone bridge, there was already a wooden bridge here.

The bridge is so narrow that by means of traffic lights are arranged so that people can cross alternately in one direction.
As a pedestrian you must take shelter in one of the refuge areas on the bridge.
Very beautiful place!
