Martinskirche Schönstadt

Highlight • Religious Site

The Martin's Church, built in 1897 in neo-Gothic style on the site of the old village church in Schönstadt, is a small jewel with its successful proportionality, the benches made of real cedar wood from Lebanon and the large altar window, which was designed by the Oberrospher glass artist H. Klonk with a Christmas motif. This is probably why it is so popular as a “wedding church”, also outside the parish boundaries.

For monument protection reasons, the new church was not "easted" as is usually the case, but the choir is located in the north.

Info and Acoustic Station Erlensee

Highlight • Rest Area

The octagonal wooden house can accommodate around 25 people. Microscopes, stereo magnifying glasses and other devices for nature observation and examinations are available here.

Listening places allow visitors to immerse themselves in the acoustic world of the Bug Forest: fox barking and the scream of the eagle owl, the song of the nightingale and the rumbling of an approaching thunderstorm.

The information and acoustic station is open and supervised from April to October on the 2nd Sunday of each month from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Birdwatching Station at Erlensee

Highlight • Viewpoint

An idyllic lake, a mysterious jungle island, varied shores, riparian forest, meadows and a steppe-like area open up charming landscape impressions. The small-scale mosaic of different biotopes offers ideal living spaces for a diverse animal world. The great crested grebe has chosen the Erlensee as a breeding ground, cranes and many other migratory birds use the lake as a resting place. At dusk, bats hunt across the water surface and sometimes an osprey circles over the lake.

Hainmühle on the Ohm River

Highlight • Monument

An old watermill on the Ohm, which has been here for several centuries and only stopped operating in the 1960s. However, the old turbine system has been renovated in recent years and is now used to generate electricity. The long history has not harmed the building, it is still very beautiful to look at.
