Tennyson's Seat Viewpoint

Highlight • Natural Monument

Part of the South Downs sculpture trail, this sandstone seat was inspired by former Blackdown resident and poet, Alfred Lord Tennyson.

Engraved in the stone are his lines "You came, and look'd, and loved the view long known and loved by me: green Sussex fading into blue, and one gray glimpse of sea".

It's a beautiful spot with spectacular views over the south downs.
