Fischbach Valley

Highlight • Gorge

The Fischbach is formed on the eastern municipal border of Spiegelberg and Großerlach by the inflow of the 1.1 km long left stream from the (lower) Mohrklinge into the Schlatbach, which is 1.9 km long upstream and has the largest catchment area. It then flows for about 6 km through the incised valley to Sulzbach, where it flows into the Murr. The whole valley is PURE NATURE and is easy to cycle through (even uphill). From the Murrtal to Oberfischbach it is about 240 meters above sea level over 7.5 km.

This is the absolute highlight of the bike. This path takes you to Mainhardt, Oberrot or Grab. Great route in the cool forest and along the stream.

Starkholzbacher Lake

Highlight • Lake

The Starkholzbacher See near Schwäbisch Hall is a great swimming lake. It has a sunbathing lawn and a bathing jetty. Not far from the lake is the Gipsmühle inn, which originally dates from 1866.

Its more recent history is also interesting. Due to fish die-offs in 2007, the lake was completely drained and re-established as a recreational area a few years ago.

Old Town, Schwäbisch Hall

Highlight • Historical Site

The heart of Schwäbisch Hall is the spacious market square with the grand open staircase leading up to St. Michael's Church. Stand at the top and look out over the half-timbered roofs. The cityscape here has an aura that testifies to a long history as an important salt-producing town. Early in the morning or in the evening, when the light falls at an angle, it's all in a class of its own again.
